ACACIA MADEN İŞLETMELERİ A.Ş. – EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM
The Acacia Maden İşletmeleri A.Ş. Emergency Response Team consists of an expert team with accurate, fast, safe, and professional competencies to respond to all kinds of emergency situations that may occur in mining sites.
Established in 2023 with 14 members, our team reached a competent structure of 28 people in line with corporate goals on August 13, 2024, by obtaining Turkey’s first Urban Search and Rescue Accreditation in the field of mining.
The ADME Team receives comprehensive periodic training in modules such as hazardous materials response, fire response, urban search and rescue (Earthquake), first aid, team competency, and vehicle accident response, and tests itself through continuous drills. In addition, it improves its experience day by day by actively participating in the 2025 Tosya Regional Earthquake Drill and the 2026 Kastamonu Landslide Drill conducted under the coordination of AFAD.
Our field experience is not limited to training and drills, as we successfully fulfill all tasks assigned during critical disaster periods needed by our country. We undertook significant responsibilities in the field with response and support activities during the search and rescue and emergency response efforts following the February 6 earthquake disaster, in 5 different forest fires that occurred in the Kastamonu region, and in 2 different village house fires in nearby settlements.
Committed to continuous improvement, we continue our investments in training, drills, and equipment, and maintain our efforts toward competent and accurate interventions for all tasks.
As the Acacia ADME Team, we are ready, as always, to reflect this accumulated experience onto the field, come together with other teams once again, and most importantly, gain new experiences in the 4th Mine Rescue Competition, where we are taking part for the second time as a participating member.
The Çayeli Copper Mine Rescue Team and Rescue Station was officially established on December 18, 1995, upon approval by the letter numbered 2195.53-5 of the General Directorate of Labor.
Our Mine Rescue Team consists of 45 members. They receive training and certification in accordance with the requirements of the Canadian Ontario Mine Rescue Training System.
Our Mine Rescue Team is experienced in responding to natural disasters and industrial accidents as well as mining accidents. Our team actively participated in search and rescue operations during the earthquakes centered in Van Erciş in 2011 and Kahramanmaraş in 2023.
Our Mine Rescue Team updates its knowledge and improves its skills through regular training and drills.
DEFAŞ MINE RESCUE UNIT
ESAN – MINE SEARCH AND RESCUE TEAM
Established on July 5, 2011, the Esan Underground Mine Search and Rescue Team continues its activities today with a strong and expert staff of 70 people. Since its inception, it has achieved high operational competency through advanced training received in the fields of underground and surface search and rescue, firefighting, vehicle accident response, and hazardous materials response.
With its equipment, know-how, and disciplined organizational structure, the team stands as a force ready at all times against potential emergencies and disasters. In this context, it has served in an integrated manner with AFAD and the Balıkesir Disaster Coordination Center during fires, industrial accidents, and natural disasters, making significant contributions with its field effectiveness, coordination capability, and rapid response power. These collaborations are continuously strengthened through regularly conducted joint training and drills.
Furthermore, the Esan Search and Rescue Team has assumed a pioneering and inspiring role in the sector by training Turkey’s first female underground mine search and rescue team member. This visionary approach clearly demonstrates the inclusivity of the team culture and the importance it places on development.
Today, the Esan Search and Rescue Team advances its operational capabilities further day by day with regular training repetitions, realistic drills, and a philosophy of continuous improvement, continuing to be a symbol of safety and professionalism.
ETİ BAKIR A.Ş. MAZIDAĞI OPERATIONS EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM
Founded in 2013, the Eti Bakır A.Ş. Mazıdağı Operations Emergency Response Team provides continuous service for the safety of the region and industry with its expert staff of 12 people.
All members of our team consist of competent personnel who have successfully completed the “Basic Firefighter Training” (Theoretical and Practical Fire Training) conducted at the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Buca Fire Department Training Center and the “First Aider Training” provided by the Mardin Provincial Health Directorate, earning the right to receive certificates at international standards.
In the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes that occurred on February 6, 2023, which deeply shook our country; our team, which assumed an active role in search and rescue operations in all provinces affected by the earthquake, combines its field experience with high discipline. Our team constantly keeps its competencies up to date through regular training and drills.
With our competent staff, we are ready for duty at any moment against all emergencies and disasters nationwide.
ETİ KROM A.Ş. – MINE SEARCH AND RESCUE (MAKUT) TEAM
The ETİ KROM A.Ş. Mine Search and Rescue (MAKUT) Team was established in 2020 and continues its activities today as a strong team with 111 expert and volunteer staff, providing support for search and rescue operations not only for its own operations but also for other mining enterprises and relevant institutions in the region when needed.
Since its inception, the team has continuously developed its response capacity for various scenarios, primarily mining accidents, cave-ins, natural disasters, and fires. In this context, the team’s inventory includes a surface search-and-rescue and firefighting vehicle, 18 BG4+ closed-circuit breathing apparatuses, 2 Carvent positive-pressure breathing sets, 2 single-wheel stretchers specially designed for underground mines, and a mobile MAKUT support vehicle. The teams’ knowledge, skills, and response capabilities are continuously improved through training, practical applications, and regular drills provided by expert trainers within TTK and the company.
The field experience possessed by our MAKUT Team has also been demonstrated by the missions it undertook in major incidents occurring in our country. It actively took part in a 32-day search-and-rescue operation during the flood disaster experienced within the scope of the HEPP Project in Erzurum İspir, with a team of 132 people in the operations carried out in Elazığ, Malatya, Adıyaman, Kahramanmaraş, and Hatay following the February 6 earthquakes, and in an 8-day field assignment following the landslide in Erzincan İliç. Furthermore, the rescue of 4 employees as a result of an approximately 6-hour operation during the intervention into a cave-in that occurred at another mining enterprise in our region on February 26, 2024, became one of the important indicators of our team’s effective response capacity.
The ETİ KROM A.Ş. MAKUT Team holds an important place in the region in terms of developing corporate capacity, national accreditation, regional cooperation, and effective intervention in real incidents. Participation in the AFAD Mid-Level Urban Search and Rescue Accreditation Exam was achieved with 58 team members, and the knowledge, skills, and technical proficiencies of our team members were evaluated at the national level. As a result of this process, the AFAD Mid-Level Urban Search and Rescue Accreditation was presented to the ETİ KROM A.Ş. Mine Search and Rescue Team on February 24, 2025. This success demonstrates not only ETİ KROM A.Ş.’s capacity in the field of mine search and rescue but also its level of institutional preparedness for various disaster and emergency scenarios. The ETİ KROM A.Ş. MAKUT Team represents an important capacity on a regional scale, being one of the first private sector teams in Turkey to hold mid-level urban search and rescue accreditation and the only team in the Eastern Anatolia-Southeast Anatolia region.
Another important best practice of our team has been the pooling of rescue capacity among mining enterprises and the strengthening of regional solidarity. Within the scope of rescue protocols, rescue training sessions were organized for employees of various mining enterprises with TTK support, and the training organization for a total of 135 employees was completed. Thus, a contribution was made to increasing the level of preparedness for emergencies not only for ETİ KROM A.Ş. employees but also for different mining enterprises in the region.
The ETİ KROM A.Ş. MAKUT Team contributes to the development of the search and rescue culture in the mining sector with its 111-person staff, advanced technical equipment infrastructure, national accreditation, real-incident experience, regional collaborations, and continuous training approach. The primary goal of our activities carried out in 2025 is not only to increase our intervention capacity, but to make the mindset of “being prepared before an event occurs, performing the right intervention at the time of the event, and transferring the experience gained after the event to the future” an institutional culture. As the ETİ KROM A.Ş. MAKUT Team, we continue our work with determination with the goal of being a search and rescue team that places human life at the center, continuously develops, learns, and assumes responsibility on a regional scale.
GÜBRETAŞ MINING INVESTMENTS INC. – MINE SEARCH AND RESCUE TEAM
The Gübretaş Mine Search and Rescue Team is a high-operational-competency organization operating with 35 trained personnel and 4 expert trainers who have active field experience in national mining accidents and urban search and rescue operations. Our team works with the goal of conducting safe and effective operations under the most challenging conditions by continuously improving its knowledge, skills, and intervention competency through national and international training programs, including JOIFF standards.
Specializing in underground search and rescue, underground and surface fire response, confined space rescue, urban search and rescue, hazardous materials spill response (HAZMAT), vehicle accident response, rope access, and first aid, our team is ready to respond quickly and effectively to any kind of emergency with its modern technical equipment, fully equipped response vehicles, and an organizational structure ready 24/7.
Conducting regular training and drills in cooperation with public institutions and organizations at the national level, the Gübretaş Mine Search and Rescue Team possesses the knowledge accumulation, equipment infrastructure, and organizational strength to provide effective support not only for enterprise emergencies but also for search and rescue operations conducted on a regional and national scale when needed.
GÜMÜŞTAŞ MINING SEARCH AND RESCUE TEAM
The Gümüştaş Mining Search and Rescue Team is built on a field culture and safety understanding derived from approximately 40 years of mining experience. Our team consists of colleagues who are closely familiar with underground mining and facility operations, and who act with a disciplined, resilient, and strong team spirit.
We combine the knowledge and field experience of our team members who have served in rescue activities in the past with current mine search and rescue practices. Through regular training, practical drills, and scenario-based studies, we continuously improve our coordination, communication, and ability to act together under difficult conditions, alongside our technical competencies.
We are participating in the 4th Turkey Mine Rescue Competition to develop our field experience, learn from the experiences of different teams, and test our competencies with realistic scenarios. We see this organization as an important part of our journey of developing as a team and contributing to the search and rescue culture in the mining sector, and we aim to represent Gümüştaş Mining in a way that best reflects our team spirit.
ÖKSÜT MADENCİLİK A.Ş. – EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM
With our OMAS Emergency Response Team, which we established in 2019 and which has an expert staff of 52 people, we continue our activities with an understanding of high preparedness and rapid response against emergencies. We work in a prepared manner against all potential emergencies.
Saying “Human First”, we continuously improve our competency through regular training and drills in the fields of search and rescue, fire, CBRN, and technical intervention; and we take part in the field with an effective and coordinated structure.
As the OMAS Emergency Response Team, we participated in the operations carried out in Adıyaman, Osmaniye, and Hatay following the February 6, 2023 earthquake, and supported search and rescue activities in Erzincan İliç. Throughout 2024, we maintained our active role by supporting the response to eight different residential and forest fires.
During 2025, we participated in the CBRN and earthquake drills carried out with the AFAD Kayseri Provincial Directorate, and strengthened our cooperation and coordination capability through drills we organized jointly with various institutions.
With the live drills we have been conducting every year with the participation of public institutions since 2021 and our approach of continuous improvement, we resolutely continue our work with the goal of being ready under all conditions.
TÜMAD MINING INDUSTRY AND TRADE INC. – TÜMAD SEARCH AND RESCUE (TAK) TEAM
The TÜMAD Search and Rescue (TAK) Team consists of volunteer employees working at our Lâpseki and İvrindi Operations, who have come together to provide effective and safe intervention against potential emergencies.
The team possesses a strong coordination capability thanks to regular training and drills conducted against various emergency scenarios such as search and rescue, firefighting, hazardous materials spill response, and traffic accidents. Combining these capabilities with a sense of social responsibility, the TAK Team continues to take an active role in all natural disasters on a national and regional scale in coordination with public institutions and organizations.
TÜPRAG METAL MADENCİLİK A.Ş. – MINE SEARCH AND RESCUE TEAM
EfemçukuruEstablished in 2011, the Efemçukuru Gold Mine Search and Rescue team consists of a total of 62 people. Having completed their training according to the Australian training system, team members possess training at the “RII30709 – Certificate III in Mine Emergency Response and Rescue” level.
Keeping its knowledge and skills up to date through year-round refresher training conducted by 2 expert trainers within the team, the team has intervened in many emergency situations at the national and regional levels, notably the Soma and Ermenek mining accidents, and the İzmir and Kahramanmaraş earthquakes.
KışladağOperating within the Tüprag Kışladağ Gold Mine, the Fire and Rescue Team consists of 59 expert personnel. Throughout the year, regular recurring and refresher training is provided by trainers within the team on subjects such as the use of emergency response equipment, firefighting, hazardous materials response, confined space rescue, and vehicle accident response. In this way, the team’s knowledge, skills, and intervention competencies are kept constantly up to date.
Following these training sessions, planned and unplanned drills are conducted to ensure that the team is ready for all kinds of emergencies, while simultaneously continuously developing its operational capability and coordination skills.
The Tüprag Kışladağ Fire and Rescue Team is not only limited to responding to emergencies within the mining site, but also provides support for forest fires occurring in the surrounding area and residential fires breaking out in nearby settlements. Furthermore, the team assumed an important social responsibility by taking an active role in the search and rescue operations carried out after the Kahramanmaraş earthquakes, which deeply affected our country and all of us.
TÜRK ALTIN İŞLETMELERİ A.Ş. – MINE SEARCH AND RESCUE TEAM
Following the Koza Altın İşletmeleri A.Ş. Ovacık Gold Mine Search and Rescue Team, whose foundations were first laid in 2002, together with the new enterprises established subsequently—namely the Gümüşhane / Mastra, Eskişehir / Kaymaz, İzmir / Çukuralan, and Kayseri / Himmetdede Gold Mine Search and Rescue Teams—it is ready for duty in any potential emergency with a total of 142 Mine Search and Rescue personnel across 5 locations in 4 provinces, comprising 58 personnel with underground search and rescue competence and 84 personnel with surface search and rescue competence.
ZENİT MINING SEARCH AND RESCUE TEAM
The Zenit Mining Search and Rescue Team was established at the Örencik/Tavşanlı mine site in June 2026 and consists of 35 team members and one instructor.
All team members are locally hired employees who work at the mine site across various departments. Although it is a young and newly formed team, it has followed an intensive training program over the past three months, completing comprehensive training in search and rescue, fire response, first aid, chemical spill response, and vehicle accident response.
The team continuously enhances its capabilities through up-to-date knowledge and practices, utilizing skills and information acquired during activities conducted in accordance with the annual training and drill schedule.
