ACACIA MINING OPERATIONS INC. – EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM
Acacia Mining Operations Inc. Emergency Response Team was established in 2023. Our team of 14 people consists of 2 teams including the captain, vice captain and team members.
All team members have successfully completed Basic Firefighter Training (Samsun Municipality Fire Training Center), CBRN and Applications Training (AFAD Ankara Provincial Disaster and Emergency Management Directorate), First Aid Training (Kastamonu Provincial Health Directorate) and Urban Search and Rescue Training (Kastamonu Provincial Disaster and Emergency Management Directorate) and have earned a certificate.
Our team participated in rescue operations in Kahramanmaraş during the Kahramanmaraş earthquake that occurred on February 6, 2023.
Acacia Mining Operations Inc. Emergency Response Team is ready to respond to national and international emergencies with its trained personnel and advanced equipment.
ÇAYELİ COPPER ENTERPRISES INC. –MINING SEARCH AND RESCUE TEAM
Çayeli Copper Mine Rescue Team and Rescue Station was officially established on December 18, 1995, with the approval of the General Directorate of Labor with the letter numbered 2195.53-5.
Our Mine Rescue Team consists of 45 people. They are trained and certified according to the requirements of the Canadian Ontario Mine Rescue Training System.
Our Mine Rescue Team is experienced in responding to natural disasters and industrial accidents as well as mining accidents. Our team actively participated in search and rescue activities during the Van Erciş earthquake in 2011 and the Kahramanmaraş earthquake in 2023.
Our Mine Rescue Team updates their knowledge and improves their skills through regular training and drills.
DEFAŞ RESCUE UNIT
Established in May 2015, the DEFAŞ Evacuation Team consists of a total of 80 people and was established to provide support in case of need with one evacuation station, 20 BG4 Plus closed circuit evacuation breathing apparatus and all emergency equipment.
The rescue team keeps itself up-to-date with the training given by the expert staff it attends and is prepared for possible situations by carrying out its work in the fitness center.
It has gained competencies to assist all around Turkey by carrying out preparedness work in coordination with AFAD for situations such as mining accidents and natural disasters.
ESAN – MINE SEARCH AND RESCUE TEAM
Established on 05/07/2011, the Esan Underground Mine Search and Rescue team consists of a total of 54 team members.
By providing competence with advanced training in Underground and Aboveground Search and Rescue, Fire, Vehicle Accidents and Chemical Response, it is prepared for many Emergencies and Disasters in terms of team and equipment.
It has provided integrated support to many fires, industrial accidents and natural disasters together with AFAD and Balıkesir Disaster Coordination Center, and their joint work continues with training.
She became a pioneer in this regard by training Turkey’s first female Underground Mine Search and Rescue Team Member.
Our Esan Search and Rescue team continues to further increase its operational competencies and development through regular training and drills.
ETİ KROM A.Ş. – MAKUT TEAM
The mine search and rescue team was established in 2020 and consists of 111 people in total. It continues its work to provide support, service and development to all mines in the region. The mine search and rescue team includes an aboveground search and rescue and extinguishing vehicle, 18 BG4+ closed circuit breathing apparatus, 2 Carvent positive pressure breathing sets, 2 special single-wheeled stretchers designed for underground mines and a mobile MAKUT support vehicle to intervene in incidents that may occur in external areas. The training of the teams is provided by TTK and our own trainers, and drill and practice trainings are held at regular intervals.
The first duty place of the Mining Search and Rescue team was the rescue operation that took 32 days as a result of the flood experienced in the HEPP Project in the İspir district of Erzurum. Later, it participated in the rescue operations with a team of 132 people with the participation of rescue and volunteer teams in the great Maraş earthquake. It took part in the Elazığ, Malatya, Adıyaman, Maraş and Hatay regions. It was on site for an 8-day duty in the landslide that occurred in the İliç district of Erzincan. On February 26, 2024, a collapse incident that occurred in a different company in our region was intervened and 4 personnel were rescued in an operation that lasted approximately 6 hours. Aware of our responsibilities towards our country and our company, we continue our work by constantly improving our teams and equipment.
GÜBRETAŞ MINING INVESTMENTS INC. – MINE SEARCH AND RESCUE TEAM
The first step was taken to establish a search and rescue team with the HAZMAT training held on 24.10.2022 within the Gübretaş Maden Yatırımları A.Ş. Söğüt Gold Mine, which started production in 2023.
Our underground preparations started with rescue training at the end of 2022. At the beginning of 2023, the Mining Search and Rescue Team, consisting of 26 search and rescue members and 3 instructors, continued to develop their skills in Urban Search and Rescue, Vehicle Accident Response, and Rope Access Techniques in cooperation with AKUT Institute.
The development of both the team and our trainers is continuously ensured through internal and external training.
Our company, which is new to the sector, is fully equipped and ready to intervene with a mine rescue vehicle and a road safety vehicle.
COAL ENTERPRISES INC. – MINE SEARCH AND RESCUE TEAM
Coal Enterprises Inc. was established in 1957 as a subsidiary of the Turkish Coal Enterprises Institution. Since its establishment, it has been operating in the fields of coal, mining, industrial raw materials and energy. Çayırhan Mining Enterprise, which is affiliated with Kömür İşletmeleri Inc., was established by the state and was put into operation as Orta Anadolu Lignites affiliated with TKİ in 1966. A rescue unit was established from the year it was put into operation. Çayırhan Mining Enterprise was first brought to Turkey in 1977 and put into use. In 1987, it became the first enterprise in Turkey to use the Fully Mechanized Production method. In 1985, a training track was established and the rescue center was modernized. As a rescue unit, it serves all over Turkey and surrounding enterprises with 41 rescue personnel, 25 BG4 Closed circuit breathing apparatus, 10 PCC3000 and 2 TIR trailers prepared for emergencies. In the 58 years since it entered into operation, it has trained new rescue personnel for use within the Rescue Center and in the surrounding businesses as needed. Regular development training is provided at the training center in 6-month periods. In addition, Rescue information renewal and fitness loadings are carried out in 2-month periods. It has participated in many search and rescue operations such as Erzurum Aşkale firedamp explosion, Düzce earthquake, Soma Mine disaster, Elbistan Open Pit landslide, Amasra firedamp explosion, Kahramanmaraş earthquake, etc.
KOZA GOLD ENTERPRISES INC. – MINE SEARCH AND RESCUE TEAM
The Koza Gold Operations Inc., whose foundations were first laid in 2002, is ready for duty in a possible emergency with a total of 142 Mining Search and Rescue personnel in 4 provinces and 5 locations, 58 of whom have underground search and rescue competence and 84 of whom have surface search and rescue competence, together with the new enterprises established after the Ovacık Gold Mine Search and Rescue Team, respectively, Gümüşhane / Mastra, Eskişehir / Kaymaz, İzmir / Çukuralan and Kayseri / Himmetdede Gold Mine Search and Rescue Teams.
LİDYA MINING – MINE INTERVENTION TEAM
Our Mine Intervention Team was established in Balıkesir Gediktepe Mine Operations area within our group company Polimetal Mining, which started its first mining operation in November 2021. Currently, our team, consisting of 2 trainers and 16 people, is prepared to perform duties against possible emergencies with fire response, search and rescue, chemical spill response, vehicle accident rescue, first aid training, and in addition to these, competency development activities required by operational needs.
Our team also participated in the 2nd Mine Rescue Competition held in Turkey and took part in all competition modules except the underground search and rescue module.
ÖKSÜT MINING INC.
As Öksüt Mining Inc., the safety of our employees is our top priority. In order to control possible emergencies in our business with the least loss and in the shortest time, our emergency teams have been determined and we carry out regular trainings and drills with these teams. With our motto of “People First”, we follow technological developments in order to be always prepared for emergencies in our business, in the surrounding settlements and in our country in case of a demand, we increase the knowledge and experience of our emergency teams and continue comprehensive studies with our company management and emergency teams in order to expand our equipment in terms of continuous development. Our emergency teams basically consist of Search and Rescue, Protection, Extinguishing, First Aid and Chemical Substance Intervention units. In addition, our secondary support group is also included in our emergency team according to needs such as logistics, transportation, communication etc. We wish all businesses safe and accident-free operations.
POLYAK EYNEZ INC. – MINE SEARCH AND RESCUE TEAM
The Mining Search and Rescue (Rescue) Center was established within the company in April 2015. The Mining Search and Rescue (Rescue) team is experienced in underground fire intervention applications, dam opening and closing applications of production panels and drill studies of these applications as internal tasks in its own company, and in Mining Search and Rescue works as external tasks in other companies when needed. It took part in search and rescue operations in the Izmir Earthquake dated 30.10.2020 and the Kahramanmaraş earthquakes dated 06.02.2023.
Currently, there is a Mining Search and Rescue team of 98 people in the business. There are 25 Drager brand closed circuit breathing apparatus (BG-4) in the Mining Search and Rescue (Rescue) Center.
There are currently 108 trained and competent search and rescue personnel in the business. 98 of them are trained and qualified in underground mine search and rescue (Rescue in Hazardous and Very Hazardous Work). 59 of the team are trained/qualified in urban search and rescue (AFAD–Light Urban Search and Rescue Training). 2 of the team have received the Urban Search and Rescue Trainer’s Trainer certificate from the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Turkey-AFAD (Bursa).
TÜMAD MINING IND. AND TRADE INC. – TÜMAD SEARCH AND RESCUE (TAK) TEAM
TÜMAD Search and Rescue (TAK) Team was established in Lapseki and İvrindi Operations and consists of 70 members.
TAK team members in both operations continue to develop and improve their competence and skill levels with external trainings, as well as refresher training and drills throughout the year by 2 Expert Trainers in the fields of search and rescue, fire response, chemical spill and vehicle accident response.
In addition, the Team has carried out search and rescue operations in emergencies and natural disasters at the national level, in locations close to businesses, and in emergencies and natural disasters that occurred upon the request of public institutions and organizations.
TÜPRAG METAL MINING INC. – MINE SEARCH AND RESCUE TEAM
Efemçukuru
Established in 2011, the Efemçukuru Gold Mine Search and Rescue team consists of a total of 50 people. Team members who have completed their training according to the Australian education system have “RII30709 – Certificate III in Mine Emergency Response and Rescue” level training.
The team, which keeps its knowledge and skills up to date with refresher training throughout the year with 3 expert trainers within the team, has responded to many emergencies at national and regional levels, especially the Soma and Ermenek mine accidents, and the Izmir and Kahramanmaraş earthquakes.
Kışladağ
Kışladağ Gold Mine Fire and Rescue Team consists of 62 people. The team keeps its necessary competencies up to date by taking refresher trainings throughout the year with the trainers within its staff. They continue to develop their competencies by participating in planned and unplanned drills by taking repetition trainings throughout the year and are always ready. They actively took part in rescue activities in the surrounding forest fires and the Kahramanmaraş earthquake.
TURKISH COAL ENTERPRISES-RESCUE TEAM
The “Tunçbilek Rescue Station”, located in the Garp Lignite Enterprises Directorate in the Tavşanlı district of Kütahya, affiliated with the Turkish Coal Enterprises, was established in 1948. Today, a total of 93 search and rescue personnel work at the station.
Since 1948, TKİ rescue team has continued to provide rescue training and development courses. TKİ Rescue Team experts, who have provided search and rescue training to hundreds of people to date, act with the motto of “Our Priority is Human, Our Gem is Human”. Rescue workers; continue to be with our nation and save lives in difficult times such as earthquakes, landslides and many other disasters all around our country.
The main goal of the Rescue Team, which is counting down the days to host the third 2024 Mine Search and Rescue Competition, is to standardize rescue training at national and international levels and to make rescue a professional standard.
TURKISH COAL INSTITUTION RESCUE STATION, RESCUE TEAM
In our country, the first rescue station was established in Zonguldak by the German Drager company in 1938 within the Turkish Hard Coal Enterprise. In the following years, our institution established rescue stations in 4 production facilities outside the center and they still continue their activities. 114 businesses benefit from the 62 rescue stations established in underground operations outside our institution and continue to provide training and equipment maintenance support to these businesses.
The rescue center, which has trained tens of thousands of rescuers through uninterrupted training since its establishment, has participated in search and rescue operations in mine accidents and other disasters that occurred nationwide. It has carried out successful rescue operations, especially by applying a fortification system, in the rescue operations in the 1999 Marmara earthquake, the 2011 Van earthquake and the 2023 Kahramanmaraş earthquake.
Our 758 active rescue personnel continue their Light Urban Search and Rescue training. There are 97 BG4 Plus rescue vehicles, 4×4 rescue vehicles, personnel transport vehicles and mobile dormitories in our rescue stations. In addition to these, 2 rescue vehicles and disaster search and rescue equipment are in the procurement phase.
